PARENT STUDENT TEACHER MEETINGS  This term, these meetings are by request.  This means 2 things:
1. If you would like to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss his/her progress, learning or school life, please ring the office to make an appointment.
2. A teacher may request to meet with you to discuss learning progress.
Remember, there will be no writtten report this term so this is an opportunity for you to ‘touch base’ with your child’s teacher.
HELP! We need names and addresses of all pre-schoolers likely to enrol at Ngatimoti School this year, 2011, 2012 and 2013!  This information is to help in our case for a new classroom.  PLEASE, if you can let us know of any children in the district, we would appreciate it!

Term 3 - Week 6 Newsletter

We had a busy last week but now many students are suffering from a nasty flu, which includes headaches, a heavy head cold and sometimes tummy upsets.  Many children are reported to have high temperatures and fevers.  Today we have 40 of our students away sick.  Please give your children the benefit of the doubt and keep them at home this week if they are not well.  Let’s hope for a better week next week!

REPORTS Following a most worthwhile Friday Forum last week, we have decided that in light of the National Standards requirements for the end of the year, there will be no written report sent to parents this term. Instead, we encourage Parent-Teacher meetings by request. If you would like to meet with your child’s teacher for any reason, please phone Amanda in the office to make an appointment. For further details about last week’s Friday Forum, please read the notice board outside the Hall.
SWIMMING  Our swimmers will be enjoying their last session this Friday at the Aquatic Centre.  After the swim, Room 3 students will visit Nelson Museum for a new session of “Future Food”.  We all need energy!  This interactive learning session promises to be great fun.  Please ensure your child brings along a good lunch and a water bottle. Students selected to swim from rooms 1 & 2 will return directly to school from the aquatic centre.  Thank you to all the parents who have helped provide transport and supervision for these sessions.

Theatre Royal Visit:  Rooms 1 & 2 – Tuesday 17 Aug, Rooms 3, 4 & Hall – Thursday 19 Aug. Thanks to last year’s Festival proceeds we are able to pay for tickets for the whole school to see Peter and the Wolf performed by the Nelson Academy of Dance at the Theatre Royal next week.  The performances start at 11.15 am and we will be taking the bus.  To cover the cost of this we
are asking for a $2 bus fare contribution from each student.  You can bring your $2 to Amanda in the office at any time.  Thank you!
FRIDAY FORUM: REPORTS  This Friday morning, 13 August, at 9am parents are invited for a coffee and a chat about how and when we report student’s progress and achievement to parents.  The introduction of the National Standards means we may need to make some changes!
INTER SCHOOLS GYMNASTICS COMPETITION – MOTUEKA Students have been selected to attend the gymnastics competition at Motueka High School next Thursday and Friday 19/20 August.  Further details will be given, however transport will be required from helpful parents so it would be appreciated if you could let the office know as soon as possible if you are willing and able to help.
HIROSHIMA DAY was marked this week with a minute of silence in Room 1, and with the making of many tsuru (paper cranes).
