Welcome Back to Term Two

Welcome back to Term Two everyone!  A special welcome to our new student Seth who joined us in Room 4 this week.  We’ve got lots to look forward to this term in all areas of our curriculum.  We will start with Parent Student Teacher meetings following up on progress reports which were sent home at the end of last term.  We also have some musical opportunities, lots of sport, enviro projects and class camps to plan . . . how exciting!  For a good start to the term could you please ensure your child has enough stationery.  Many students need to stock up on pens, pencils and rulers.  2 suitable pens and 2 suitable pencils enable students to get on with writing activities quickly, and a pencil longer than 2-3cm is required for the neatest work to be produced! 

Week 9 Newsletter

CONGRATULATIONS to our  Enviro Group for their work and presentation of our eco-hut.  Chrystal, Oscar and Manu spoke confidently and enthusiastically to a group which included students, teachers from 3 other schools, an architect, TDC staff and the mayors from both Nelson and Tasman!  Our efforts were rewarded with a $150 voucher , with special commendation for student input and historical links.  This was another fabulous opportunity for students to connect with and learn from a variety of others whilst presenting Ngatimoti as a great place to learn!
CONGRATULATIONS also goes to Oscar, for his winning story in the recent Mapua Literacy Festival!  Oscar’s “Adventure by the Sea” was a great model of writing, which built tension, included humour and had a satisfying ending!  We hope to display a copy of it in the foyer.
PROGRESS REPORTS will be sent home with the students tomorrow.  Please take the time to read through your child’s clear file of work samples and listen to what they have to say.  Meetings with teachers will take place in week 2 of next term.

Our mission for next term is to rebuild our willow eco-hut.  We need volunteers please!  Contact Amy if you can help us; Thank you!

Week 8 School News

This morning Chrystal, Oscar and Manu are visiting Nayland Primary school to share and discuss eco-huts.  They have prepared a great photo board and will speak to a group of approximately 30 people.  I am sure they will do us proud!

Next week, all classes will be doing stream monitoring with an expert, Mel McColgan from Waimaori Stream Care.  TUESDAY:  Room 1 in the morning and Room 4 and Hall Class in the afternoon.  THURSDAY:  Room 2 in the morning and Room 3 in the afternoon.  The stream monitoring group will also have a special training session on Thursday morning.  If any parents would like to come and see what we are doing you are very welcome!

Earth Hour is being promoted for this Saturday.  You may like to turn all electrical appliances and lights off for one hour!  Then, discuss with your children why?
