The Board’s role
The Board has the overall responsibility for the school, including certain legal obligations (Education Act), and its main role is to improve student achievement.
The Board governs the school and the Principal manages the school. This means that:
- the PRINCIPAL, together with staff, decides HOW we achieve this and REPORTS to the Board accordingly;
- the Board monitors progress and makes changes if necessary.
The Board is also responsible for managing the performance of the Principal.
Trustees
Board members (trustees) are elected for a three year term. Current members are:
Sue Boissevain (Parent Trustee and Chairperson)
Alison Turner (Principal)
Errol Boyes (Parent Trustee)
Kylie O'Donohue (Parent Trustee)
Graeme Anderson (Parent Trustee)
Heather Reid (Staff Trustee)
The Board Secretary is Amanda Lang
Board Meetings
The Board meets 2 or 3 times per Term for approximately 2.5 hrs. The dates/times for these meetings are published in the newsletter and on the website and the agenda is available in the foyer 2 days prior to the meeting. The meetings are public except for any “in committee” agenda item, to which the public is excluded. The public does not have speaking rights unless by prior arrangement with the Board Chair.
The meetings are minuted and these are also available in the foyer for viewing.
Your role
The Board’s ability to govern the school can only be as good as the knowledge it has. If you have something to say about the school, or if you are interested in becoming a Trustee, then please speak to one of us.
Board Policies
These are available on request.
